Need Help: TC or Mustang II suspension?
Need some advice here:
Looking to upgrade my 65' suspension and I'm trying to decide between the Total Control Coil-over conversion kit or Heidt's Mustang II deluxe kit.
I like the adjustability of the Total Control kit, but the added space of going with the Mustang II is very impressive.
Any comments/suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks!

I went with the Heidt's deluxe kit. I also put in the Heidt's disc brakes all away around and the Heidt's 4 link kit as well. This is all being done as we speak and were shooting for the car to be done by hot August nights.

Neither. If I wanted more room, there's not much choice except to go with the MII. I wouldn't do it for the sake of doing it. The MII's didn't handle much better than my '64 as far as I'm concerned. I personally can't justify the three grand for a coilover setup since I'm not going to road race the car.
With new suspension, and the Shelby drop, my car actually drives and handles darn good. I am really impressed with it at the present. There are a few things I'm going to do to make it even better. One being to get a wheel alignment.

Did not know that Heidt had a rear 4 link for Falcons, did not see it on their web site. Do you think it would work on a 65 Ranchero?

Re: Need Help: TC or Mustang II suspension?
Actually they do not have one for the falcons! However, they have it for 64-70 mustangs and I have it on good authority it will fit. I was told this by the guy that runs www.mustangdepot.com here is las vegas. The falcon track width is 56 inches plus I using a 9" read end and bell housing.
Now, the interesting thing about all this is that the guys at hedit's ask me to let them know if it fits and then they can include the falcon when selling the kit. I won't actuall know until sometime next week when it is installed. My mechanic says it should fit. Anyway, you have it as I have it.

Tell him to give you a discount, I thought the frame rails were spread 2" wider from center on the Mustangs? Not to say that it can't be made to work.

The rear frame rails are spaced the same but the ground to frame is different at the ends. The cross length measurement is way different. The bird and horse are 2 different animals. If you are gonna be a guinea pig, get a discount. Look at the sales you could be bring their way. If they don't want to play that game don't tell them nothing about the fitment. Let them spend their money and time on research.

Again, I'll chime in for Rod & Custom. Why chop frame rails with Hypes frontend...when R&C is a direct fit.
link: MII

I agree, if I was going the MII it would be the R&C. Haven't heard nuttin bad about those. I talked to a fellow who has the other one and it broke where it fastens to the frame rail. He had to do some serious repairs and modifications. Not a good thing, but maybe they have cleared up the problem. This was one that is several years old. The R&C is a complete kit also.

Re: Need Help: TC or Mustang II suspension?
I think I will take your advice and ask them for a discount. Here are a couple of pics:

Btw, this is only a prelimanairy fitting and there will be some "tweeking" to be done as well as welding. Furthermore, if it did not fit due to a 2 inch difference my mechanic is a welder and he assured me that he could cut/saw and make it fit.
