How to remove trim from sides?

I just bought a 64 Falcon and want to pull the trim that runs along the side and entire length of the car. How do you go about removing the trim without damaging or bending it?

thanks,
Johnny

Re: How to remove trim from sides?

Very carefully.....

There is a bolted clip on each end with rivoted clips in between I think....

There's a way to lift it up adn pry it out and away from the clip spring then tild the other way and down to rock it off the clip.

I hope I said that right...

Just experiment and be carefull.

Re: How to remove trim from sides?

Like FE noted, the trim is bolted on at the ends of each piece. You have to remove the door panels and rear inside panel. There are some in the trunk also. I used a small flat steel bar ,aka, as paint scraper and was able to pop it off the clips. I found that a putty knife was to flimsy. Once you get the hang of it, it is a pretty simple operation.

Re: How to remove trim from sides?

When you both say "bolted" at the ends and just to make sure I have it right. If I look behind the door panel, fender or inside trunk, I'll actually see a bolt or nut that's holding the trim on at the ends? And any points in between the bolts, is mounted using some type of clip that I can pry off?

I just want to make sure I have it right before I get started. The trim is in really good condition, but I want to remove it before I start doing the body work and don't want to ruin it by doing things the wrong way.

thanks,
Johnny

Yes, there will be a 3/8" or a 7/16" nut on the end clip. the rest should pop off if touched just right...
