swap

anyone know if a 61 fenders, grill, hood, lamps, bezels, will swap onto a 62 falcon? if it will all bolt onto the 62 core support and line up then -cool- i'm gonna pick up an old gasser that rusted before it could hit the track- already has the solid axle that i'll swap over.

edit: guess i could swap the core support if i have too- any thoughts? advice? mean spirited thoughts? attaboys?

Re: swap

I think I read that you will need to swap the core support also to get things to align up correctly and look right.

Re: swap

cool, my budget might make me do a gasser instead of a four linked lowered strip car. i like gassers alot, but that's not something that can be undone easily later in life........hmmmmm. at least i'll have the 61 clip while i'm deciding.

Re: swap

They may look the same but doubt that they are. Get out the tape measure and the holes are in different locations, and the fender for a 1962 is usually a bit longer than for a 1960-1961.

'course, if someone modified things back when it may only fit one auto then.

i dont have a problem drilling different holes for fender mounts. shorter may be a problem, as a v8 with a rad will be tight (i expect to buy an electric fan). i love gassers but was planing on a four link tubbed and tubed ride. but i now i am really warming to the idea. it's gonna be a bare bones, ruthless street brawler anyway, and i'm aaaall about attitude on the street.

You will have room for a 3 core even with a spacer on the fan.

well i'm gonna do some set back (trannyface right at the firewall) and it's gonna be a small block Mopar mill (i know-blasphemy but it's mean and it's what i got) I think the lengths of the motor are fairly close. i hope. the 61 front end is pretty important to me though (60 is even better but i think that's an easy swap when you already have the 61 on it) i just hope the core support swap is straight forward.
