Brake Booster & Master Cylinder

I have a 63 Falcon that I converted to front disc brakes . Now I need to know what will fit (brake booster & Master Cylinder) into my car . I don't want the Geo Metro set up if possible .

Re: Brake Booster & Master Cylinder

You really don't need power brakes on a little Falcon. Be sure to get Disc/Drum master cylinder. A lot of people go with a 67 Mustang master. I have a 89 Mustang master and use metric to SAE fittings on the brake line. Master Cylinder

Re: Brake Booster & Master Cylinder

I used a Mustang dual master cylinder (for a '69 disc/drum car) without power booster and it bolted right up. I had to remove the rubber bumper on the pedal so it could swing back a little further. It works awesome.

To be clear , 67-69 Ford Mustang power disc/drum master cyl. but w/o booster ? All the listings I see are for power disc drum systems .

Re: Brake Booster & Master Cylinder

Usually, disk brakes up front require boosters, as they require more pressure at the pads to work. The rears are drum and fronts are disk.

There were some Mustangs done without booster brakes and disks up front but then required someone with a heavy foot to run too.

Re: Brake Booster & Master Cylinder

Yes, usually, but a Falcon is surprisingly light compared to a '67-'69 Mustang or Cougar.

By the way, Falcon Girl, you should also get a proportioning valve to put in-line to the rear drums. I got a little black one with a knob on top on eBay for about $30. I put it on, adjusted it to 1/2 way open, and never had to adjust it again.

You probably know this, but run the rear drums off of the front reservoir, and front discs off of the back reservoir. The pressure switch goes on the brake line to the drums (just use a T right off the front reservoir).
