Help Identifing this Falcon!

I have found a Falcon Ranchero w/ the vin# 0r27L148438...I have tried to plug in the numbers in vin decoder, but the ones I can used can't identify the engine code.
The car right now has a v6 engine in it, but I didn't know if it was the original. Can anyone decode this vin??

It is in great body shape. Running Condition. New brake work done, distributer cap, wires, plugs, hoses, tires. The guy wants $500...is this a good deal. Would anyone want to buy it from me if I bought it??...I wouldn't be looking to keep it. I could get the data plate numbers here soon..

Thanks

Re: Help Identifing this Falcon!

Since Ford didn't have a V6 until about '74 and the Falcon based Ranchero's ended in '66 I would have to say this is not the original engine.

Re: Help Identifing this Falcon!

The VIN is a 1960, the only engine available was the 144 CI straight 6

Sorry, i meant to say that it had an inline 6--not a v6. But that still doesn't answer the question why it had an "L" as an engine code...Does anyone have any suggestion? Maybe its a boggus vin...

How much would a good body condition, good running condition, original 1960 Ford Falcon be worth??

Re: Help Identifing this Falcon!

You silly guy's!

It's a 70 ranchero and NOT a falcon and has a 250 POWERHOUSE in it

The only engine codes in 60 were S and U for the 144 and 170.... That's what I thought anyway...

Re: Help Identifing this Falcon!

He's got the tag info wrong then.... "L" is a 250 but they didn't make it back in the early 60's...
