Re: New disk brakes and skinnies.

Please please please give lots of details on your setup. I`ll be starting my 4 disc conversion hopefully by August on my `67 Falcon. Parts, brands, prices, everything you can tell me will be a huge help. Looks great, nice work.

Re: New disk brakes and skinnies.

Front wheels are Torque thrust II 24x4x15 with 1.5 back spacing
Tires are MT 24x5x15 sportsman radials.

Disk brake setup is:
Scarebird brackets for the front and Wilwood disks on a custom 9" rear end from Moser.
Stock two reservoir master cylinder, stock priority valve, hard lines to the rear brakes and soft lines to the front calipers.
The Scarebird stuff can be seen on the front page of this website. The instructions for the kit are not very model specific but will get you close enough parts wise to get the project done.
I used dust caps (Dorman) which were not listed on the instructions from Scarebird but are needed since the Falcon dust caps are too small. Everything else seemed to work well other than the bearings they have listed on the instructions. I used a Timken "set 2" and a Timken "set 5". The hard lines on my 67 had the wrong size tube nut for the new soft lines so I had to cut and flare the hard line and use a smaller tube nut.
The Scarebird brakes are not for the first timer and a word of advice if I may, make double or triple sure you specify 5 lug or 4 lug brackets. I got 4 lug when I needed 5 lug and wasted a lot of time thinking I had the right brackets. None of the suggested parts would fit with the 4 lug brackets.
It stops real good with the new front disks and feels a lot more stable in braking situations.
The skinnies feel real stable so far and the only real difference I feel is it is easier to steer.

Looking real nice and good to see you posting again. Been a while.

I watched "The Bucket List" last night and thought about you and your PHR shoot.

Thanks Murff, it has been a while.
I have been real busy lately with a new job and havent been able to spend as much time on the Falcon as I would like to.
