I'll get some pictures tomorrow, as I've spent the last few days trying to make the steering combination work around the stock engine mounts. Looks like it may work quite well, with little almost zero bumpsteer using the new Speedway column and Saginaw steering box,

Re: The Rosedale Rocket

The new steering system is up, and operable. Quite a departure from the stock, original set-up, but it also buys me an incredible amount of room to build custom headers, linkage, etc. The steering shaft just squeaks by the stock engine mount location. No engine setback for now! This was the biggest hurdle so far on the car. Next up are the subframe connectors, then a mock-up engine goes back in for the header build, which I'm looking forward to!!More build pics can be viewed here:The Rosedale Rocket album | Teddisnoke | Fotki.com

Hey Dale!

Glad to see that progress is being made on your project, looks like you will be finished before I get my Falcon done the way things are going here!

Did you ever get the email I sent? There were some links to a few different web pages I thought you might find interesting.

Anyway, take care, and keep up the good work!

Brett

Re: The Rosedale Rocket

Hey Brett- I received the email. There were some really cool pics on it. Maybe someday, your car and mine'll be added to the mix!! The last week or so saw alot of 'things' getting figured out on the car, with regards to front end fitment. The front downbars are installed, kinda did a cool little tweak on the firewall to replicate the pinch weld around the reinforcement plates. I had a lofty goal of making a pass at the March Meet, with the car unpainted, but I decided to continue with the push. All the hard stuff is sorted out, now its kick back, build a set of funkadelic headers, and start sanding the thing down for a new coat 'o color. It'll never win a 'best of show' when its done, but it'll get more attention and oddball looks at a cruise night than most other cars attending, huh?

Re: The Rosedale Rocket

I re-installed the engine, to provide a starting point for the headers, and after a day of cutting apart a set of T-bucket Patriot Performance units, came up with these:

1 5/8th's, the tubes end up around 32 inches in length, but the 3 1/2" collector is one the large side for the little 289, so I ordered a set of collector adaptors to make them dive down to 2 1/2" for the exhaust system. Subframe connectors, and a rollbar should be next on the horizen. Maybe the NHRA March Meet won't be a stretch after all!!! Be great to have a match-up against the Whistler car, but we won't be in the same class unfortunately!!
