69 falcon wiring trouble

I attempted to hook up an after market headunit to my stereo but i dont know what happened. The wires going to the original AM were blue/red and yellow/black. I took the red as pos. and the black as ground but when i hooked them up and turned on the power the radio sparked and smoked. i have absolutely no idea what couldve happened

Invest is a volt/ohm meter or a DC test light.
