I posted this in the progress section but I don't know if it worked.
Here is the story on my Project Falcon. I sold my 66 Ranchero back in March and then picked up an 89 Mustang LX 5.0 from a guy I worked with like 13 years ago. I decided to sign up on Midwest mustangs forum to find parts and ask questions. Well as I was on there I found a local guy that really needed to sell his 66 Falcon fast cause it was sitting on a trailer at a friends house that wanted it gone and he had no room for it. He was asking $700 and I got his number and said I had $400 cash if he wanted to drop it off at my place it's his. I now have a nice project that is making great progress. I just had 6 pieces welded in the floors and have a motor and trans waiting to go in. It is and original Florida car and had been sitting since 95 I was told. It came with a running driving 302 and C-6 auto. Here are a few pics.
My Ranchero leaving to Florida.
The day it arrived this is what it looked like.
The first thing I picked up was a set of wheels and tires for $160! I think they look awesome and it says they are Shelby wheels but I can not confirm he ever made these?
I then started buying all kinds of stuff and ripping everything out.
Rebuilt the holley 600
It only needs floors and a fix on the cowl as far as rust goes.
Here is the new floors $500
And welded in for $200
So on to the cowl fix. I used peel and seal from the hardware store to seal the rust holes. Yes I know this isn't the correct way to fix it but I don't have the money or tools to pull the cowl. So this is the poor mans fix. I was able to get my hands in all the way to the drivers side vent ring which is in good shape. The passenger one was rotted off and laying in there. I had to cut the top cowl piece to gain access to the vent ring so I could come up with a solution. I measured the hole and went to Menards to find some type of ring to fit around the hole. I am not sure what it was called but it's in the section with the venting duct. I squeezed it in there and JB welded it first on one end to get it solid then the next day on the other side and its solid as a rock. I then took my fingers and caulked it from the inside part of the ring. Enjoy...
The guys that welded my floors also included welding and glassing my cowl.
So last here is a few pics of the motor thats waiting to go in. It is a stock 88 GT 306 that has 10k on a rebuild and I have a set of long tube headers, HEI dizzy, Performer RPM, Gilmer belt drive, and a Tuff stuff 100 amp alt. The C-6 when I opened it up looks like it was rebuilt and never used cause there was no wear at all on the main drum! I installed a B&M shift kit and selector shaft seals that were leaking. I picked up 11 qts of B&M Synthetic Trick Shift for it also at $2.95 a bottle I couldn't go wrong. I have a 3 row aluminum raditor and and aluminum water pump. Enjoy...

Making progress for sure! Nice to see a dead project come back to life. Question about the radiator - I have been offered an identical one (I'm sure it's the same manufacturer) for cheap. I've seen pics but not in-person. How's the quality and fit? Is the core brazed or epoxied?
Thanks!
David

Thanks, as far as the quality I think it is great and fit is awesome since I dont have to customize anything like I did on my Ranchero. The only thing I will need is a spacer for the bottom holes between the radiator and the core support. I am not sure if it is brazed or epoxied. I would think brazed since its fully welded all around.
