How do I dye a paded dash pad ?

I have a 63 green padded dash that I would like to dye black.
Don't want a gloss black but more a semi or mat sheen,
What is the best way to do this?

Thanks!

Re: How do I dye a paded dash pad ?

I used a vinyl spray can to convert a red, faded dash to black.

I also used the same method to change the color of my convert's rear side panels when I converted her from a 500 to an XL.

That was about 30 years ago, and it still looks the same.

I imagine that, due to advanced technology, today's sprays are even better.

Re: How do I dye a paded dash pad ?

Go to your nearest auto paint store and get a good vinyl cleaner to get all dirt and previous coatings off of the dash pad. Tell them exactly what shade of black that you want and they should be able to mix the color and also be able to fix you up with your new color in a spray can.

The hardest part of doing this is the removal of the dash pad from your Falcon. I have done this before. Just take your time between the stages of the job and you should end up with just what you wanted.

The cost factor isn't that bad. A lot less expensive then having it done by a shop.
