New guy with a rookie question....

Hey guys...Ive got a question that Ive been trying to get answers to for a while now with no luck. Hoping that you guys can set things straight.

Ive got a '67 Coupe that I am getting ready to do a ground up restore and my neighbore has a '65 2dr. I have been told over and over by many people that the bumpers from a '65 will not fit a '67 even though they look pretty much identical. Now I understand that the frame and everything changed between 65 - 66 so, Im guessing that it is just the brackets that dont fit. I know that you can't buy new reproductions for the 67 but you can up till 65. So now, my question is....Can you take a 65 bumper and put on the 67 brackets....Unless there is a size difference.

Or does someone have a secret location of somebody that has reproductions?

I know that I can get my old ones straightend and rechromed at a cost of more than double what the new reproductions cost.

Thanks for any help guys.

With a Torch and a BFH you can put that bumper on ANYTHING...

But on a serious note... Why don't you take his bumper or vice~versa and see WHY they don't work... Maybe you only need a tape measure....

The solution seems extremely simple to me.

Re: New guy with a rookie question....

The '66 up Falcons are based on the size of the Fairlane. The car is wider so the bumpers are wider also. The '66 & '67 front fenders interchange, and the rear bumper is shared by the '66 thru the '70. The '68-'70 front bumpers interchange.

I know of someone that put the '68-'70 front bumper on his '66 Ranchero, he didn't have too many problems getting it to fit, he did have to use the later parking light housings as the '66-'67 wouldn't work with the later bumper.
