Comet radiator.
Does the '64 Comet radiator dimensions share the same size as early Mustangs, Falcons, etc??? Griffin would like to match one up for a car for me, and I'd like to give them proper information.
Thanks for any help!!

Re: Comet radiator.
I'm absolutely 31.8399% POSITIVE that they will interchange without issue.

Re: Comet radiator.
Thanks! Remember, I'm still a green behind the ears Fomoco wookie/rookie!!! The wanna see one on the Comet at SEMA next year, so I told them to step up to the plate. I needed one that would support up to 600h.p. (when I step up to A/FX class with a big block!!)

Re: Comet radiator.
Dale;unless they are going to make a special radiator for you their stock replacement aluminum radiator will be on the ragged edge to cool 600HP.I know this because I helped build a 65 Falcon with a Griffin replacement aluminum radiator and a 620HP, 427W,AOD combo. It cools OK but we also put a remote engine oil cooler with its own fan and a remote trans cooler with its own fan, totally away from the radiator. It runs 200+ on a 85 degree day.I believe their specs call out 400HP max. Re: Comet radiator.
'64-'66 Mustang
'64-'65 Falcon
'64-'65 Comet
Radiators interchange.

Re: Comet radiator.
Per Postal above...
The V-8 radiators may interchange OK, but the six cylinder ones are different.
Also Ford used an extension (aluminum) hub plus long bolts to get the fan near to the radiator backside. These pretty well interchange as far as I can see they all have 5/16 fine threads.

Re: Comet radiator.
The guys are right The Comet/falcon radiators are the same when using the same engine.
Can any of you guys give feedback on wether a 2 row aluminun is better than a 3 or 4 row brass. Lik ethe guy with the 427W, I have one too and am in the process of getting the radiator, but don't want to have overheating issues that make the engine compartment a mess that even a overflow setup can't handle. I think a 280 degree temp is right for the engine.
I've seen the inside of a 2 row--just longer tubes, but at what cost if any to efficiency.

Re: Comet radiator.
a 2 row aluminum cools very good, but flows low, a 3 or 4 row Copper/Brass radiator cools just as well, but has higher flow.

If you are not worried about cutting your core support I suggest using a crossflow.I use one from Jegs on my 65 Comet,352"stroker,makes over 550HP,I also use an Edelbrock pump and a fabricated crossover tube at the rear of the manifold.I have never seen over 200 degrees,Autometer mechanical gauge,on the street, seldom gets over 180 at the track after a pass.Another thing you can do is to open the inner fenderwells behind the shock towers to help air flow, you don't need a huge opening to help. Re: Comet radiator.
Went down and met with the rep. Griffin makes a three row aluminum standard flow. Direct fit into existing holes. Rated for 600 h.p.Core thickness is 2 3/4" Quite the product! I won't see mine 'till after SEMA2009. Soon as I can get it, I'll get a picture or two and report on fitment.
Hey Roy- Is this hole big enough??!!

Two of these should be enough to flow extra bypass air!! Sorry, Roy. Had to have alittle fun!!
