Gasoline guage troubles

Saturday afternoon here. Got the old gasoline gauge out of side to the tank and found that the wire coming out was only holding on via the insulation and one strand. That may have been my original problem.

Re-soldered up everything again and looks OK. Now, what sort of reading should I look for using a VOM on the wire?

73 ohms empty and 8-12 ohms full

Glugg....

That means I got to get back and tear into it. Last time I was getting Infinity at empty. Figure out what broke then or last time. And, that means more work.
