64 falcon front end
Hi can anyone tell me where I could find a new 65 manual V8 center link that is not to expensive, as I am doing the granada swap and want to replace the front end with new parts. I found the inner tie rod ends for the 65 at the local auto parts store for 25.00 and bought new 79 granada outers & sleeves, but no luck on the center link. Also do I use a 65 idler arm? Thanx

Re: 64 falcon front end
Try Falcon parts.com, or ebay, or one of the other Falcon vendors. Watch this forum for people selling parts.
What is cheap to you?

Re: 64 falcon front end
Thanks for the info I have been watching ebay and they are a bit pricey $300 to $460. I will give Falcon parts a try

Also check with NAPA or one of the other big auto parts stores.

AutoKrafters has all that stuff. They have a catalog that is a wealth of part #s and applications. Look em up on line and order a catalog, its free and Ive never had 1 problem with them. I ordered a full front end for a my cyclone and also for my 64 Sprint. Good quality as well and good customer service.
Alot of the 64 stuff interchanges with the 65 mustang. You may look up part numbers for a mustang centerlink and compare to the falcon link #. May be the same part for half the price.

Re: 64 falcon front end
Falcon is shorter than the Mustang. So it won't work.

Dont you mean narrower? What does length have to do with a center link.

If you stand them up side by side it will be shorter...if you lay them down it will be narrower. The holes for the tie rods are different too. See page 57 http://www.melvinsclassicfordparts.c...ages_53-59.pdf
The 64 V8 and 65 V8 stuff is different and nothing interchanges unless you have a very, very late 64 production number. To use a 65 centerlink you will need to change the steering column and steering box to get the right size sector for the pitman arm...or get a steering box from a 60-65 6 cylinder car

Re: 64 falcon front end
No need to swap out the column and box, just use a later pitman arm with the larger sector shaft. I have one and compared it to a 65 pitman arm and there was no difference other than the obvious sector shaft size. All 65 Mustang parts interchange, aside from the center link. I used a Mustang center link and cut it to size, but I wouldnt really recommend it because unless you get the measurments EXACT, itll give you a world of trouble (ask me how I know...). Falconparts.com and Auto Krafters are probably 2 of the best Falcon parts vendors Ive used, but Ill add Dennis Carpenter reproductions as well. Im not 100% on the idler arm, but Im pretty sure you should use the 65 idler. I have a replacement 65 arm that you may be able to use with your 64 shaft if youre interested.
