Out With the Old...

Just a quick clip of me pullin' the 351 out after our Renegade Raceway trip. Shows my Rube Goldberg engine hoist setup.

Hey, you gotta hankerin fer some old Pipes? I got several European jobbers I'd send you fer nuthin'! They're nice looking and only slightly used and likely only about 40 years old or so, so they're not very old but they are Briar.

Re: Out With the Old...

Hahahahahahahahaha!

You're all correct.

I am very lazy and hate cherry pickers. They never line up right when you need them, always in the way when you don't. I rigged the winch up for lifting the Studebaker coupe body off and on the chassis when we were still working on that. $75 for the winch at HF, $40 for the beam from local mom & pop hardware. Sure makes life easier on this old fool.

Gary, I'll take your pipes. I switched to a pipe when the local Stop-n-Rob started charging $4 bucks for a pack of smokes. $30 for a pound of pipe tabaccy, lasts me about 5-6 weeks. Smells better too.

Don't let the clip fool ya, I am a fat old hippie. My sig pic is what I usually look like on a 'good' Sunday morning after a 'better' Saturday nite.

Re: Out With the Old...

You make it look so easy Murff, why did you pull out the engine?

Re: Out With the Old...

It's all part of my never ending quest to die frustrated and pennyless.

I had it in mind all along to convert this engine to alky and now with racing done and the rainy season here it seemed like a good time to get started.

My first "new" part showed up today, my Vertex magneto. Sending it off for rebuild at the end of the week along with my injection pump for flowing and to get basic set up for alky.

This is a touchy subject around here, but my new cam is ready to pick up too. Probably grab it tomorrow.

Re: Out With the Old...

My dad didn't go electric and just used a big chain hoist and I-beam setup. Only his was lenghtwise with the shop so still had to get it lined up but you could be any distance into the shop. I like the electric.
