in 5 years that thing wont be worth much, but the shelby is a shelby, love it or hate it, the shelbys hold their value extremely well as history has proven. Buying a shelby GT is an investment as well as a fun car to drive. Want something to spank that ricer? buy a mustang GT for $32k or whatever it is, add a rouchcharger and a few handling goodies and you have 400+hp that will spank the suberu.

Does the Subaru come with a matching bracelet and lip gloss? You have to be a female under the age of 18 to think the Subaru would be cool to drive. No, ground effects and a huge spoiler won't help. Neither car is very impressive in my opinion. Especially one with a turbo and all wheel drive at only 3,3xx pounds.

The Mustang has more potential and is already capable of faster 1/4 mile times 157 pounds heavier with a decent set of tires which anyone who goes to the track should have. The small price difference would easily cover the tires. Then you could add a turbo or blower.

What does Subaru have to offer to compete with the other performance cars Ford has? Just having fun with you since the reason for your first post is obvious and silly.

Rally? Isn't that what you do when your down in the late innings of a baseball game?

Tommy B, is that a picture of a Transformer! You know the yellow car in the picture. Is it an autobot or deceptacon?

What car is that ? Come on ......

The RS200 is one the fast cars in the world that was made by "FORD" in house to win the Group B Rally's in the WRC. The other in house race car was the the Late 60's Ford GT-40 race car.

Ford RS200

This car was designed and homologated so that it could be raced in Group B ralling before it was banned.
Notable features of the car were their extreme strength when crashed, though they were quite heavy.
The homologation [road] version heald the world record for the quickest car 0-60mph for a long time; at 3.01 seconds.
The RS200 EVO road version had about 680bhp, and hit 100mph from standing in just over 5 seconds, going on to complete the quarter mile in under 10.

Re: '08 STI vs '07 Shelby Mustang

The Shelby is a joke. You might as well buy a standard Mustang GT and then buy the FRPP performance packages since doing so is cheaper than getting the Shelby (in fact, that's what the Shelby GT is). However, don't underestimate the Subaru. My old HS teacher does auto-X and he got rid of his Mustang for an STI for a reason.

Glad you have a sense of humor. Maybe the reason for your post wasn't as silly and obvious as it seemed. Just thought I'd have some fun with it.

I've never seen an RS200. Kind of looked like a Pontiac Fiero that someone went to town on. Rally racing isn't as big over here.

Incredible car! I'm sure I don't want to know what they cost.

Re: '08 STI vs '07 Shelby Mustang

For an extra $10k you can take home a GT500, but even still these damn cars weigh 4 thousand pounds. Lose a thousand pounds and its worth it. Let's face it, it looks badass, makes tons-o-power, but with that much weight its not really that impressive. ****, you can nearly buy a ZO6 for that much and we all know what they will do. When you bought a Shelby back in the 60's you bought a legit race car, whether it was a cobra or 65gt350. I think today ford is just trying to sell cars and the styling of the new Shelby gets peoples' attention. It's a name brand and it's more or less a marketing gimmick than anything else. Throw some badges on it, exhaust, intake, and sell it for $10k more, give me a break. While the STI is gay in many aspects, the bottom line is that it takes the cake from what is supposed to be an American Muscle car, Shelby should be embarrassed to put his name on this stuff.

Re: '08 STI vs '07 Shelby Mustang

Yep, what does shelby do other than tape them? After -66 Nothing...

Maybe Subaru put just a bit more effort to modify it to STI? And don´t get confused, I´m not much into these plastic bullets.

What does sti need to go faster? a chip?

I´m just glad my -66, and yes, even my -66, can whip both of their asses...

How do you shave 1000 pounds of a Tank size new mustang... I mean easily?

EDIT: Almost forgot. Which of these cars had a functioning hood scoop???
