V8 Engine Block Machined From Solid Chunk

I don't know what engine this is but thought the process was pretty cool.

Re: V8 Engine Block Machined From Solid Chunk

Are they stronger than an iron block? I know nothing about aluminum blocks.

Are they a race only application?

Re: V8 Engine Block Machined From Solid Chunk

It would depend on the design but I believe they are almost as strong as cast iron. It's mainly a forged vs cast aluminum thing.
I don't think they're race only but are definitely pricey.

SBF $10K
SPEED-O-MOTIVE BILLET ALUMINUM FORD BLOCKS

FE $??
Billet Block

Supposed to be stronger than the Cast steel counter parts actually. Light as all get out and can be repaired very easily. We use them in Dirt late model race cars
