will a 302 fit a cruise-o-matic?

I have a 62 with a 292 and cruise-o-matic but I want to put a 302 in it for a while to rebuild my 292. (this is a daily driver so I cant just garage it to rebuild it)I need to know if this is possible and if so... what do I need? thank you very much for any help.

No, the Y-blocks like your 292 use a different bellhousing than the small block.

To put a 302 in, you'll need to swap the trans also.

thank you frankenfords, If you are correct then I need to ask you another question. Will an 80's AOD bolt up to a 70's 302? I know those decades are vague but I dont know exactly what I am working with... too many options in my head!

I meant to say IF the current block is a 5 bolt (5 bolts hold the trans to the block) you'll need a 6 bolt bellhousing to mate the newer block to the old trans. The swap is easy, the only other consideration is what size ringgear or "flexplate" your using. It's either 157 or 164 tooth. You'll need to consider this if you go bellhouse shopping. The bell house is cheep. Used should run 25 - 50. If you go that route let me know, I can give you more details.
