Pics of Drum Brake to Disc Brake Conversion on 1967 Galaxie.

I used the 1979 Thunderbird disc brakes for this conversion. On a 1967 Galaxie the spindles used the same ball joints as the drum spindles did. The outer tie rod end u can make work from the drum brake installation. You just have to enlarge the hole a slight bit for the cotter pin. I got remanufactured calipers on it now and a remanufactured master cylinder for the 79 Thunderbird. I replaced my brake lines. And got the perportioning valve off the 79 Tbird.

Did you reroute your brake hoses from the front you dont want that much of a bend in the hose. If you look at your donor bird you will see how they are positioned.

yeah I wound up rerouting the brake lines to the front after the pic was taken. they worked great even when they where bent like that but i changed it due to the bend.

I am collecting parts for the same swap on my '65. Is the master cyl a straight bolt in to the drum brake booster? Did you need to fab a new pushrod?

FYI the thicker sway bar from the bird will fit with slight relocation of the sway bar frame mounts. All you need to do is drill some new holes (at least on the '65). I found a 1 1/8" bar and it has made all the difference with my handling and cost almost nothing.

Yes the master cylinder is bolted directly to the original drum brake booster on my 67. Didnt have to modify the pushrod for it. what we did was took the drum brake master cylinder with us to Advance Auto Parts got a thunderbird master cylinder off the shelf and measured the bolt holes and they were the same.

That was the last piece of the puzzle for my swap--great info. Let us know how it works when you're done!

Just about all Ford masters will fit. I did the 77-78 t-bird brake swap too and used the "modern" Ford master from a late '80's van a buddy was parting out. The aluminum body with plastic bowls look nice and modern under the hood.
For reference, I had manual brakes before, the new master cylinder had power. I used the push rod from my original master. No mods anywhere were necessary (other then new lines of course).

I'm curious...How are the non-power disc brakes? I like the idea of having more feel to the brakes, the original power drums were way to sensitive, but my wife still needs to be able to stop the car when she drives it
