Weather stripping

I bought that whole kit from dearborn classics to redo basically the whole car, I was wondering if there are some real pain in the butt places to have to replace the weather stripping, like maybe the doors or something? Should you replace the weather stripping after its painted? Some of them are held in with staples? How do you staple into metal?

What Car??????

How did the prices compare to this page?:

After the car is painted….always.

Use 3M weather strip adhesive, and follow the instructions.
They are specific. Yes, a tube is about $15.00, But worth it.

The car is a 63 1/2 galaxie 500XL

I don't know I bought the kit a while back, it was all in one deal. I don't know the prices off hand of the individual parts. I think dearborn still has the same price as when I bought it.

I just looked it's $642 for the kit. I am thinking that I paid somewhere around there maybe a little less.

You over paid. Unless you are doing a FULL restoration. Including Front and rear Glass.

Those aren't bad prices. One day I need to get the weather strip kit for the top but that sure gets spendy too. But better than getting rained on. The only new weather strip i have now is just the header bow seal.
Any idea who sells the rubber that goes outside the windows at the top of the door. For future reference. Dennis carpenter has some but they have a metal bead on them where mine doesn't.

My car is completely ripped apart, glass and everything.. tons of pieces everywhere, I am definitely doing a weather stripping resto. My back glass frame work was starting to rot, I couldn't even tell until I ripped it all apart. I also didn't understand why the interior of the roof was starting to rust???

Probably just from moisture like a green house in there for a few years with the windows up and temperature changes.
