Ignition switch/ lock
I need help with the ignition switch install. I can't seem to get the lock into the new ignition switch. I bought a new bezel, switch, and lock. I know there has to be some kind of trick to putting these together so it isn't so easy to steal the car. I also don't understand how it will be securely mounted to the dash, it seams like I am missing some piece of the puzzle, I mocked it up and it wasn't very tight fitting on the dash, like there is a big spring or something missing to draw the switch backwards away from the dash to keep the switch tight against the dash. I don't know, all the parts look like they are right, just need the trick.

Ignition switch/ lock
There is a small hole in wich a paper clip sized rod must be inserted. to get the lock into the switch. There is a pin in the lock that is depressed . This allows the lock to Snap into place. The whole assembly is then held onto the dash panel by threads on the bezel. The best thing is to find a Ford manual. They have pictures that do a much better job of explaining than my ramblings. Look on EBAY for them. There are lots of them out there!

I knew I had to press in that pin, I also had a hunch that I would have to turn it to ACCESSORY. I think I am missing the spacer then, mine will still be flopping around.
I also noticed that all of my lighted bezels are cracking and falling apart, I looked up how much they are new $100 bucks -Ouch!

Not only that but I think it's the vent bezels that I haven't seen anywhere yet but on ebay now and then.

Do you have a spring that is on the back of that? I just looked at the spare I have and thought that might be what you are missing. There is a spring that keeps it snug agains the back and keeps the front on the outside pulled tight against the dash.

I have the spring that comes with the ignition switch, but that will only hold the bezel tight onto the switch, not the whole assembly to the dash. What is the piece that holds the whole thing tight onto the dash??

The only thing on the one i have is the bezel that has two like cutouts that you push it in and turn to the right and it hooks, kind of like the little studs that stick out on a light bulb in a tail light or something and then the spring. That's all that is there. How deep does your bezel go, maybe it's not the right one? Mine is about 1/2" deep. I went out and looked at mine on the car and there is also a 1/2" deep 'cup' about 4" long and 2 wide that is meant to hold the light that lights up the lettering on the bezels. Maybe that's what is missing. My ignition is on the right side of the wheel and the cig lighter is beside it also. The bulb socket plugs into the back of the metal peice. I might still have a pic of one, i'll look and see.
