Most of the factory hydraulic cammed FE's are done revving just past 5,000. They will go higher , but most of it is noise. The solid cammed engines can rev much higher. The stall speeds of most Autos are from 1,200 to 1,800. There are many variables. There are tables in the spec books specific to each trans. I have one for 65 that has many listings per tag ID. I also have 70. Let me know if you have the ID # and want a closer idea than my guess.

I am just trying to plug in numbers for my desktop drag racing simulator. Not to say that I am not interested in knowing these facts anyways. I think I would like to put a little tach. in my car even though it's an automatic. I am a gauge nut. My daily driver has 7 autometer gauges in it. Hearing it isn't enough I want to see what it's doing.

I have a 2 5/8" 6,000 Autometer in my 65. Not really a performance oriented gauge, more of a supplement to the speedo that is not always working. I have not done anything to it as I have a 67 C6 to replace the Cruise-O with anyway.
I also prefer to have gauges rather than the idiot lights.

What I've seen published on the middle-'60s Fords put the redline for most of the standard V8s at 4800RPM.
