Hmmmmmmm.........veeeeerrrrrrry interesting.....
Chris/Chilly 460 has decided to keep the Cruise-O in the 63 Marauder with the "new" 390 which will be over 400 hp.
I was also gonna keep the Cruise-O in the Edsel, since it was just rebuilt and works pretty well. My 390 will be a shade under 400 hp.
We figured just run 'em and if they blow.........
I suggested that maybe a "1-2-3" valve body from a later FMX might work. Chris talked to an "expert" at a company who deals in such things and he said "no way".
But with what you're saying and what I'm thinking, I think there is a good possibilty that it might be made to work. Gotta do some checkin'.

I really have no big important reason for wanting it the original way other than it's 'different' I guess. The tranny I have now is a '67, the one before was a '63 out of a '63 Tbird. We took it in to get it rebuilt and it ended up being toast with the torque converter spun on the shaft and not sure what they found inside. They gave it back to us in a box. When getting a pan gasket, which was the same for both trannys, the Napa in Ohio called it a Fordomatic MX I think. I have it wrote down somewhere. I just know that when I needed the gasket and filter I had the same problem finding one as I did over 20yrs ago. Some things just never change.
I would be interested in knowing but wouldn't know where to begin. There was a couple people that told me that and one of them had done it themselves but they went the opposite, with modern shift sequence.
I had the valve pan off mine recently, I should have got the old valve body and compared visually anyway to see if there was any differnences that were obvious.
