On my 68 with c6 the bm pro ratchet came with the needed brackets and other than cutting the oem bracket off the trans (or removing it) it was a bolt in job.I just had to cut the curved part of the oem bracket to make room for the bm one.Removed about half of it which was easier than taking everything apart and removing the whole thing. All in all an easy job.

I don't know what your trans is like but in the first pic it shows what I had to cut off the lever and second shows what it looks like on a c6 when done. The universal pro ratchet I used comes with a bunch of different brackets for ford/chevy/mopar trans.

On my 64 gal 390 with a cruiso with a counsel. If you were to put it in first then go to shift it into 2nd you would have jump 3rd. Unlike a c6 going from 1st 2nd 3rd. The cruiso is 1st 3rd 2nd. Confusing why ford did it like this. If i could figure out how to post pics i would take a picture of my counsel gear indicator and you could see what iam talking about.

He has the 'green dot' cruiso, so the gears are 2nd, D, L
D being the 'green dot'.
