*sigh* I need help.

Thanks sal. I'll give it a try as soon as I can ever get someone to come over and help me. Do I need anything special to turn the distributor? With the engine off, and spot marked, I loosened the hold down, but the thing didn't seem to want to budge. I didn't want to get too forceful with it for fear of screwing something up. Does the engine have to be running?

the distributor should turn fairly easy. Try lightly taping the base of the distributors with the handle of a screwdriver see if it lossens up. do not force it.

Well, Sal and everyone, thanks so much for all your help and advice. I couldn't get anyone to give me a hand to check the timing, but I managed to get the car started after a few minutes of trying. I limped it down the street to an old Mustang/old ford mechanics shop that I remembered, and figured I'd ask their advice since they could look in person. The guy popped the cap off the distributor, and showed me my points weren't opening up at all!! He was surprised the darn thing even started and ran! lol But he fixed it, and adjusted my idle, and it runs like a dream now. I'm so stoked.

Anyone in Houston, I HIGHLY recommend this shop. Sal's Mustang. I'll get the address in a sec and the phone number. They are awesome.

Thanks again everyone for the advice!

Great news!! It's always nice when its a simple fix. As the Capt. mentione; you might want to invest in a Pertronics kit and you wont have to deal with ponts again. It all fits under you Dist. cap too. Check out the tech section and you will see it is a simple mod. Take care Sleepy Sal

Yup. The guy that fixed it at Sal's Mustang said the same thing. As soon as I have the extra cash I'm doing just that.
