67 Galaxie - Wheel and Tire sizes

Can anyone tell me the size and spacing for the wheels on a 67 galaxie with factory power brakes?

Also, has anyone tried putting 17" wheels (Torque Thrust II's) with lower profile tires on theirs? (Am thinking 225/50r17 and 255/50r17's)

Thanks in advance for your input.

Thanks very much. The car is a Q code convertible with the factory 428 in it. The OD measurements will help alot

Post some pics of the wheels on the Gal when they're installed. Looking to upgrade to new wheels as well. I can strategically lose the same hubcap when I make a left turn while accelerating too quickly. It's annoying and embarrassing!!!

Debating on the 15" wheel or 17" wheel route...

Here is a web page with a tire size calculator on it. Comes in pretty handy.

Looks great!
What width and backspacing are those, Scott? Does your car have the power brake option?

Cheers,
Sabooo

I had these on my last '67. They are Weld Drag-Lites, 15x7 with 3 1/2" backspacing and 215/70's on front and 15x8 with 4 1/2" backspacing and 235/70's on back. The fronts rubbed slightly on sharp turns. I still have them out in the garage. Can't decide if I will put them on the XL, or go for a different look? I really like the look Scott has with the Torque Thrusts. I have also considered Magnum 500's.

Thanks for the compliments all!
Saboo, the bolt pattern is 5/4.5 and the backspacing is 3 3/4. The tires are 235/70R15. I don't have the power brake option.
That's my son's hotrod at the bottom, although he prefers the Galaxie
It was a tough decision to go with these as I was also leaning tword the Magnum 500's. I think that either would have looked good.
