Aftermarket radio for 67 Galaxie

Can anyone recommend an aftermarket radio that will fit into the dash of a 67 Galaxie? I'm not having any luck locating a stock AM/FM radio.

I too have been looking around and can only seem to find these people. Maybe someone in the group can give their opinion on the Custom Auto Sound radios, but here is their link in the interim:

I dont have a picture of this, but I installed a sweet cd player into the glove box of my 63. It is a bit of a reach from the drivers seat to change cds but the overall coolness factor is way worth it, and you wont have to tear up your dash for a newer unit. If you have questions on how to make this work I would be happy to help

Custom Auto Sound radios are good. They also have a cd player that can be hooked to thier radio.

Dearborn Classics has a radio/cd player that mounts in the trunk and uses a remote with a screen that displays radio station etc. Seems like it would be nice as you could update the radio but keep the stock one in place.

I got lucky and went to advanced auto parts and got an AM/FM cassette with radio knobs that match perfect for $29.99 for my 67. They dropped their prices because they only fit in the older cars.

Thanks to all for the reply's.

Inmrmn; can you tell me the manufacturer and model of the radio you bought that fit? I'll see if I can find the same one to install in my car.

If you want to spend the $$$$ there's vendor I met in Carlisle who takes regular AM factory radios puts all new AM/FM stereo guts in them. There are no changes in the exterior, uses the same control knobs etc. Even can wire them with CD jacks. About $350.00 if you're interested I'll try to find his card.

Kenwood still offers a DIN style AM/FM Cassette deck with digital tuning(i believe the Custom AutoSound ones are based on the kenwood one).
Pioneer used to offer a couple with digital tuning as well. You should be able to find used ones on ebay, might also try some stereo shops- a lot of times they will have old ones they'll sell cheap that they removed doing new installations.

I've got a older pioneer of some kind in my 67 Merc- Fits the holes just fine, although would have looked better if they had reused the origonal knobs.

I'm going to get an underdash box and mount a CD player- then start looking for the correct 67 radio to go back in the stock location!
