Dagnabbit, now I need an axle shaft....

Ya saying the ID of the axle housing itself is the only difference? the shaft OD (bearing ID) are the same?

Rick, Did you ever look to see if the metal tag was still on the rearend? That would tell you what it is.

Yup, got it right here in front of me:
WBS - BN2
3.00 3KE 105

Which apparently is a 9in, but I can't check as my parts book is for '64 & the 3K indicates it was built in November of '63
There is this tho:

8.75 rearend, Conventional w/2 pinion carrier non-locking, 3.00:1 gear ratio. Cruiso 352-4V engine, small bearing, small carrier.
Thats according to my parts identifier.

Not sure what the 2 is on the BN though. Can't find that one. This is the same rearend I have but mine says for 289 powered car.

Deb

So we have the same rear end?.. & axle shafts?
I'd forgtten mine was a 352 before a previous gearhead had it rebuilt as a 390 In fact the seller thought it was a 352..... & then I found a receipt from an engine shop in Nor Cal that rebuilt it in the 80's...

so.. about this axle shaft..

The rearend I'm trying to sell is the same as the one you have.
Mine says 289 engine but everything else is the same by the numbers on the tag. $50 and you have to take the whole thing though.

Yep! We are going to be halfway there sometime today anyway. I dont' know what time though. Don wants to take his plane out to the lakebed where the guys fly at and check it out. I'll give you a call if you are going to be around. It should be before or around noon since I have a car show in Cal City to go to at 5 today.
