It's been done before. One of the forum members has it on his '60 Starliner. And another one makes the kit. www.wurthitdesigns.com .

Beware, headers that fit with this mod are not in production at this time.

In regards to our rack and pinion conversion for the galaxies.
One of our customers has installed the first set of headers in his 60 Starliner ( a different Starliner than the one mentioned earlier) and the fit was somewhat tight on the passenger side although the header had ample clearnace. The drivers side went in WITHOUT having to jack up the engine to get the header installed. The collector now clears the rack boot with about three inches of clearance. Our cuustomer said he had to do some minor mods on the Z-BAR which was no big deal according to him. If the headers are installed in a Ford with an automatic trans you will not have to modify anything! Stan at FPA is now working on the final product and we will make it available as soon as we feel you the customer, will be satisfied with finished product. I personally want to eliminate all the hassles I can for our customers. I've heard to many stories from our customers about other products they have purchased and how badly they were treated when they tried to rectify the situation with the company they bought their parts from. I don't need these problems, so I'd rather take the time and do it right! We have quite a few racks installed out there and we are getting lots of positive feedback. Andre's Rods and Customs ( They istalled the rack on the custom Starliner pictured in these forums ) is now installing our rack in a full blown custom built 64 Galaxie with a tricked out 427 FE backed by a T56 six speed trans, This car will be feature in Custom Rodder next year. Another install will be going into Chester Towles 64 Galaxie, he heads up the Motor City Chapter of the Galaxie Club. Thanks, for taking the time to read this!

I believe this is the engine we will go with next. Seems there are a lot of 429-460 transplants into 60-64 Galaxie's. I think I'll do the process a little different with these engines. I'll make the prototype headers myself and then farm them out for production. Guess I'll make a custom Z-Bar and motor mounts for this setup as long as I'm at it. Soooo... I best get to it and buy a 460 mule engine! If anyone has any suggestions on what they would like to see out there for 60-64 Fords as far as steering, suspension, etc. let me know. How about some 4.6 Modular Motor stuff?

If my 460 still refuses to sort itself, I'm seriously considering a late model lightening motor, supercharger and all. Obviously, there'll be a front sump to fabricate, headers, motor mounts, blah blah blah...

Jeez, on second thought I'll probably just sell the car.

HEY STOP!!! YOU DO NOT NEED TO FABRICATE AN OIL PAN!. Go to my website click on the 60-64 page and take a look at the factory front sump oil pan for the Modular engines. They used these pans in the Lincoln Continentals. NOT THE MARKVIII's! Then all you have to swap in is the factory oil pick up tube. COOL HUH! It took me awhile to research this because in the end I'm going to put one of these engines in my 57 Ranchwagon.

Rick,

how about fabricating some aluminum A arms like Air Ride makes? The just don't make them for Starliners/galaxies.

My customer that I referred to earlier (with the new FPA headers for his FE ) put his 60 Starliner on the ground today and drove the car for the first time with our power rack conversion installed. He was really pleased with the way it drove. I was pretty pleased to receive the feedback. I'm really working at putting some cool stuff out there for the Ford guys.
