looking 4 a 63 289 chassis

looking for the lighter 289 frame for my 63 . all i know is the 289 fastbacks had a lighter frame that was also used for the 427 light weights . dont know if the 289 4 doors or the station wagons use the lighter frames or if they fit ?

If any body's able to fill me in it will sure be appreciated

thanks

Where are you located? I was just going through my junk and found the directions to a mans house in md that had a 63 1/2 he wanted to sell. Kinda sad shape but all the trim and everything was there.

I've got a 64 289 car I'd be willing to take the body off of if you just want the frame. It's had new brakes & bearings front & rear and is very solid. Body is bad with a rusted trunk floor & some quarter panel rot. I'm in NE Texas & could deliver it a reasonable distance. Let me know!

Hmmm..I just learned something new today. I thought that only the '63 Ford 300...one model below the Custom had the lightweight frame like the '27 drag Galaxies. I'm pretty certain that the 4 door frames are the same as the fastbacks dimentionally, but I'm not sure about the wagons..

I thought it was the 2 and 4 door sedans that had the lighter frame, not the hard top. The hard top would require the heavier frame as the body was not as rigid because of the missing post. I also thought that the 2 door sedan bodies were lighter for the same reason. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I think you want 6 cylinder frame. All '63 frames have the same dimensions except converts. Also '63 and '64 frames are not interchange. Where the core support bolts on is different. Bumper mounting is different.

Well I spent the hole day searchin for 63 289 car around louisville. found a 4door hard top , 4door post, 2door box top, country squire and one 289 fastback at a car lot . i had seen the 289 car before the carlot got it , and it was pretty far gone butt with a new macco carlot paint job its now worth 5 grand! so its still at the car lot and will be for a long time.
