Need help with 2 to 4 bbl conversion!!

This is on a 65 Galaxie with a 289 2bbl, C4 auto tranny and A/C.
So far I have put on a Performer RPM manifold and an Edelbrock 600cfm performer carb. I bought the Ford linkage adaptor and bracket. So far everything seems ok except I can not get the trottle cable to fit correctly. It appears to be several inches to long. I can get it to bolt up, but there it a big kink in the cable jamming it into the a/c lines comming out of the firewall. Is a 4bbl cable needed? Thanks

I did an almost identical swap in a 67 Gal 289 with a Holley 600cfm carb, I had to purchase an adapter thru Holley for the stock cable. Don't know if this helps but maybe Edelbrock has something similar.

Thanks for the reply. I got 2 adaptors, one was for the linkage and the other was a metal plate that the stock cable bracket bolts to. Had a hard time with it because no instructions, but I think I finally got it bolted correctly. It's that I have to slide my cable back because it seems to be too long for the edelbrock linkages, but the cable is really stiff and wants to kink. I'll try to get some pics.

Here is my problem. The cable appears to long.

This is how the edlebock adaptor move the orig brack up and over the tranny rod.

Looks like the cable bracket is mounted incorrectly, but don't think that would solve your problem. I can't figure out why it is doing this on yours, the distances should be about the same as stock, and similar to mine with the Holley Carb.
I am headed out to the garage, can take more detailed pics with carb on if it would help.

Hi,
I know the way I have the backets hooked up it looks crazy, but thats the only way I can see them hooking together. Jegs said the stock bracket bolts to the edel bracket which bolts to the maifold. I tried to run the stock bracket under the tranny rod instead of over like in the pic, but it ran into the valve cover. Would be nice if Edelbrock could include instructions.
Yes, if you could snap a pic of it hooked up to your bracket I would appreciate that. Do you happen to know the p/n of the holley bracket? I dont really care who makes it as long as it works.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the pics. I see that plate under the bracket. I have one of those too that came with the manifold, but it places the stock bracket way to far inward toward the center of the engine and right in the way of the tranny rod for me. I tried that plate first. Looking at my carb, the stud for where the throttle cable hooks up to is over the valve covers. Your Holley carb looks narrower then the Perfromer one, maybe thats why it works on yours. The Edelbrock instructions seemed to suggest that plate was for use in manual cars and that a seperate plate was req for autos, which I purchased and still seem to be having trouble.
May have to opt for the Lokar cables, although this is starting to get more expensive then I had hoped for.
Thanks again.
