I'd try to find one of those newspapers that circulate around the area (Shown'NTell, ThriftyNickel, Lincoln'sPenny, et.al) and put an ad in it. I've always had decent luck there. Hemmings might be a good spot to look if you haven't already. Check out a local car club and talk a few guys' ears off. When I converted my '65 into an XL clone a few years ago, the buckets were a bit of a challenge to find. I looked on ebay and got tired of somebody outbidding at the last minute. Anyway, check around. Run an Internet search on vintage car parts, antique car parts, etc. You might run into a few parts car ads that are still viable and find the seats you need.

Good luck on your search,

sean

I'm back!
I lucked out and found a 64 T-bird in a local yard. These are the same buckets as the XL500 in 64. I believe 63 and 64 are the same. or take a road trip and get these for cheap

Well, on the clone, I bought buckets off ebay, kept the rear seats and package tray as they were, replaced the door panels with XL package from Dearborn, put in the woodgrain steering wheel (yeah so what, that was really for a '66, but I considered it a 'restomod'), had a buddy cut the floor for tranz linkage, got a console in ratty shape from ebay, refurbished it with a console liner, and was at the point of buying some XL trim when a guy came up to me in a grocery store parking lot and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. The hardest part of the whole shebang were the seat cover replacement, and a hair dryer and a lot of patience paid off there. I loved that car, bought a '66 right after that and wanted to do the XL clone with it, but things went south right from the get go. I ordered a '66XL grille from a guy in Florida named Jason Mountz - yeah, he mounts alright, he gave me a good screwing over. When the package arrived, it WASN'T the XL grille, but the regular ole' plain jane grille that I already had on the car and already had a second of. So I ship it back. After all, Mr. Mountz advertised the grille as from an XL car. I even emailed him questioning him as to his knowledge of the two different grille styles available on the '66 - he said he knew of the difference and reassured me that I was getting the grille from a '66 XL. Yeah, I send the grille back to him only to get the package back stating that Mr. Mountz refused to accept the package - that the grille came from a '66 XL and that was that. His excuse was something like, well somebody must've replaced the original grille with the one he sent me and it didn't matter anyhow as he sent me the grille from an XL. Kinda reminded me of Bill Clinton's depending on what your definition of is is. Good luck with the cloning, it's great fun. I even toyed with the idea of customizing the interior, and may still do so with my '63 (Misty Rose) as the car paint/interior is the very rare Rose Beige package (kina pink and tan or slightly gold depending on the sunlight). Maybe I'll wear a long black raincoat with interior pockets full of used watches and pass myself off a a pimp? . . .

Have fun with the cloning if you decide to go that way,

On my "clone" I tried to find decent 63 XL seats and never did. I looked at several other seats too though. I ended up finding a nice pair of 76 Granada buckets that worked out nice, but another donor I considered due to size was 97-98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We had one then, and they looked like they would fit nicely. The 6 way tilt and lumbar support would have been nice too. There a millions of those things in the salvage yards by now with cloth or leather covering. Might be worth a look. I also looked at Chrysler LHS seats.
Good luck

It's been so long since I cloned my 64 an XL that I forgot the way it looked as a Galaxie 500.

All I can remember is that the bench seats were two-tone turquoise, but I can't even picture the car in that state anymore.

I was very, very lucky to find a complete 64 XL hardtop which I completely stripped. Also lucked out finding some juckyard XL converts in the local NJ area that still had decent parts.
