i had my car aligned after rebuilding the front end, the alignment was good but it kept going 'out'.
I found out about the kit and I also looked into why there was a kit. I heard ford tried those offset shafts to work with the suspension, it let the lower control arm move a little with the shocks. The offset bolt swung side to side, this movement threw out the alignment. Thats why they sell that TOE-IN STABILIZER BAR thing that bolts on to stop those shafts from moving. Heres a pic of that stabilizer bar :

Greg donahue says the bar stops these things from happening :
Retains Alignment during Braking Action
Eliminates Toe-In Change
Eliminates Caster Change
Stabilizes Front End - Permanently
So i guess this means those offset shafts let those things happen.
I had the stabilizer bar and it didn't do anything.
To answer your question galaxiefreak64, the kit i put in there is simply to hold the lower control arm in place, no movement, no toe or caster - no alignment issues. I've read posts on other sites about this replacement being a bad thing, i don't know why, the rear bolt that holds the other side of the control arm is straight, also companys like gregdonahue.com sell that kit to fix those issues. I know some people that still use the offset shafts and have no problems. I just had issues after i rebuilt the front end.
Sorry the pics are so dirty, thats just some grease on there to stop the squeeking from the new bushings.
63ford406 knows of another kit a little different to that one, it uses the original big bolt that runs through the frame and a straight bolt runs through that.
