I finally finished my frame off restoration of my convertible and now its appraisal time. The only thing is that my appraiser is having trouble coming up with comparable values for the car. Does anyone else out there have 68 XL convertible 428 4-speed with buckets, console. If you have info on any that are for sale please pass that along as well
it sound like you have the ever so rare 1968 XL GT Galaxie very rare ford only 1855 Made only 316 were Converts the only problem is pricing these cars i would think is hard cause there is not high demand for the car but I would want it appraised for 35 at least there was one recently in Hemmings Classic Car a Red one in the magazine there is a price guide for classic cars a 68 4 speed 428 Convert Car is 25k but The problem is since its not going for 100k + at Barret Jackson and has never been in a movie the prices wont ever get that high but you should be able to get at least 30 for it i hope
well all i can tell you is that i have 69xl\gt convertible with a 429 and console shifter and my insurance company had no problem setting the value of the car at 25000.00 so maybe that is a start. the xl\gt are not a common car my car is one of 412 convertibles and only 200 of those had the 429 in it. in this months hemmings muscle machine magazine there is a cover article about a man with a 68 xl\gt that he has had since it was new beautiful car and some really nice shots. may want to check it out good luck and would like to see some pics...
