Drum Brakes

One of my front drums was cracked. What front drums can be used on a 63 Galaxie? Everyone I have called has said that they have to order them and it cost $55. The price is OK, but surely there are some in stock for other cars somewhere in Ft. Worth.
Thanks

Have you checked the years up to about 69? Not sure if anything else interchanges, however I have a set of drum off my 62 in good shape I would sell real cheap. I no longer need them, I just put disc's on.

I got some Drums from a place here in LA called ASC, $17 for the mexican made, $23 for the U.S made.

You should be able to find them pretty cheap, that place is just a regular parts store too.

In Ft. Worth I would just try OReiley or autozone. Check out availablity on the online catalog first.

Autozone lists them for $63.

I don't know about the 63 but autozone only had the 3 inch when I needed a front one. I ordered it and then measured and it was too wide. That was the only drum they had in the puter. But who knows, maybe different stores?

fast63sbf, I just called NAPA and they had them for $90 !!!!!!!!!!! thats just crazy, by the time you do that yah might as well go for the disc conversion.

Ok , I just called ASC here in Los angeles and they have them for $29.97 and can ship them too. Heres the info if you want to do that.

ASC 213.746.1922 ask for Oscar, they said they would go out the same day.
The shipping might not work out for you though, but it might be worth a try.

Good luck

I had planned on doing the disc brake swap. After the guy flaked out on me for parts I decided to go with the original drums just to get it driving. All four corners needed rebuilt, so I ordered the brake kit from Praise Dyno for $380 for everything but the drums. After finding the left front was cracked, I picked up a new brake drum from Oreilly's for $55, but it was the wrong one. The drum I am replacing is 11 inches on the inner diameter, but the one they gave me is only 10" and won't fit. I am taking it back tomorrow. I guess I need to call the place in California?
