exhaust manifold

So, in removing the 40some year old exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold I had to use my die cutter instead of a wrench. Not really surprising giving the age, rust etc. I did a very clean job cutting the one bolt from the stud, it is clean and threads right up. The other one... not so good. It is a little banged up though it will still take a bolt okay. Is there any problem with rigging some type of a safety strap so if the vibration and heat causes the bolt to fail I won't be dragging 10 feet of exhaust system behind me?

In the near future I'll put on new exhaust manifolds but before start in cutting bolts again and drilling out studs I come here first for the a#$ saving advice I've always gotten.

exhaust manifold

With the other in there I don't see that if the one did fall out there would be any problem other than exhaust leak really. Plus the hangers for the exhaust would keep it from all falling down.
I have never used them but maybe the helicoils would work? Someone that knows about those could probably answer that question better. If I got the name right even.
