front sway bar

my 64 galaxie does not have a front sway bar i assume they just didnt have them back then in big cars but i want to add one anyways does anyone make a setup for this?

also thinking of going with manual steering or rack and pinion if i go manual all i need to do is remove all the old PS stuff and put in the new box and hook it up to the steering shaft right?

But they DID have sway bars back then. Is or was your car a 6cly? because I have noticed that the 6's did not have them but the heavy power plants like the FE came with the sway bars. Also regardless of the car and powerplant you will notice a pair of holes on each frame end where your bushing mounts and a hole going thru your lower A-arm. As for bigger, yes they make a 1" but unsure who that vendor was.

To answer your PS question, try a search on the web site and you will find the answers....

64's with FE should have a front sway bar, and to convert to manual steering youll either have to buy a little conversion piece form Dearbornclassics or Greg Donahue or you will have to pirate the parts from a non PS galaxie. To get a bigger sway bar Quickor is the only place ive found so far, they also have a rear swaybar.

remember youŽll have to remove your lower a- arms to install it....

thats what i noticed today when i tried to install mine.

and remember in the swaybar package these two bows that attach the sway bar to the frame are not included.

thats another thing i noticed today...

The 64 galaxie station wagon has a bigger sway bar if you can find one at a junk yard.

Don't waste your time on a stock sway bar for your 64. They are about the diameter of a pencil. I found one off a station Wagon, it was about 7/8" in diameter. The ones that are sold by Dearborn Classics, Autokrafter, PSI Suspention and Kanter Auto Products are all 1" in diameter. They are a real days work with the motor in the car. I had to remove my harmonic balancer on the last 64 I did. Never do that again I'll wait for a motor rebuild then tackle the project.

I was going to use the Quickor front and rear sway bars for my 62 but now their website is unavailable and someone told me their phone was disconnected. Anyone know anything about that?
