Axels in \'64

How many splines do the axels in my 64 have? it was a 390 car with a cruis-o with the big out put shaft for the drive shaft.

I have done some work on the 390 and replaced it with a 4spd and have decided to get some 3.50 and a trak loc. but i have no idea if i should get new axels, or what size i currently have in the car.

on a side note
This may sound dumb but how much gear, or how much HP do you have to get before haveing to worry about axel breakage?

Your Galaxie came with 28 spline axles from the factory. Your axles should be ok up to about 600HP.
