Converting column shift to floor shift

Anyone have any suggestions on converting a column shift to floor shift? I have a 63 Fastback with a 390 and cruisomatic transmission. I would like to put in a floor shifter and bucket seats instead of the column shift and bench seat it has now. I tried using a universal floor shifter, but can't get the linkage right. The travel is too short and it's hard to tell what gear it's in. I looked at a B&M universal with cable shift, but it only lists for use on a C4 or C6 transmission. I'd appreciate any help or ideas. Thanks.

If you want to keep the cruiso why not use a stock ford shifter with console and buckets. you will have to replace your steering column with an XL if you want it clean. but I'm sure you already thought of all these things.

I have no idea where to find those parts. Looked on Ebay, but the only thing they have on there are a couple of 4 speed consoles. I would like to put captains chairs in, but don't know if it's possible. As far as the clean look I was thinking about putting in a new steering column. Thanks.

Auto consoles do come up time to time on Ebay, I hear that "I didit" makes a decent steering column.

Like Rattpac said, they are on ebay now and then. Run a bit high sometimes. Might be possible if you catch one on there to email and ask if they have the other linkage you would need.

I have the shifter and linkages but not the center console. If you want i can send some picks of the shifter and linkages, for 20$ plus shippin' but you'd have to find the center console some where.
Or you could try and fab some linkages.

Hurst makes a universal floor shifter for a cruiseomatic called the Indy Matic 1. Jegs sells it for $85.00. I am in the process of converting my 67 fastback to bucket seats, center console, and floor shift. I found the seats on ebay (bought new covers from Dearborn classics), and got the console, shifter, and steering column from a junked XL that a member of the Galaxie club told me about. I'm going to use the Hurst Pro-Matic 2 shifter instead of the stock shifter. There's a junkyard in SC called Effingham Motors. You can find their number on the web. They did have several old Galaxies in your year group. You might want to give them a call.
