body off,how??

I just about ready to take the body off of my 66 and the bolts/nuts on the front won't come loose, all the nuts do is spin on the bolt,I looked underneath to see if there was a way to hold the bolt but didn't see anything,my question is if I cut them off will I be able to new ones in afterwards by just welding in some new bolts to replace the ones I cut off.Or is there an easier way to do it.Thanks

Darryl

Good luck- mine all broke off too. All had rusted hourglass shaped down to under 1/4"...all 4 clip nuts broke free and spun inside the frame- the clip nuts are not available.

Russ Owens put up a nice thread on how he handles it:
http://www.lovefords.org/tech/65_frame.htm

finding a donor though might not be easy.

I ended up adapting a set of chevelle urethane mounts to mine, fished bolts up thru the holes, put push-nuts to hold bolts in place...didnt work out too well- the car creaks like an old house on a bumpy road- think the hard urethane pads on the slick POR-15 painted frame might as well be teflon on teflon...Macs or autocrafters now sells replacement rubber, but you will have to save ALL the steel insert parts- most of mine were shot too- frame was a 'little rough' :

hey thanks for the artical,I saved it for future reference. My frame is in pretty good shape considering where I'm from and the cars been here all it's life, one of the reasons why I want the body off, just to check it all out, plus putting the body ona rotiserie makes it easier to work on.I think I know what I'll do and hope it works,I'm just going to try to cut the nut off and go from there.
