cast iron headers

Help!
I have a set of the Ford cast iron “shorty” headers. It had been my understanding that these would fit in my 62 Galaxie, (352), even with the power steering. The shop doing the exhaust/muffler work was also given the “shorty” headers to install.
The shop just called and said the headers will not fit.
I asked the shop to strip out the old exhaust pipes and try and fit the headers in from underneath. Will they need to jack the motor up as well? Or is this a waste of effort? I thought these headers were an option with some motor configurations (ie 406) in the 62.

If they are FE cast iron headers you should consider another muffler shop. I think they are jacking you around for more money.

H*ll yes, they fit the '62. You've just got a lazy stupid muffler tech on your hands. Tell him to shove it and go to some other guy with gumption and a brain!
