Took my fresh 67 XL out to dinner last nite and was parked in front of a steak house. It drew a lot of attention from everyone coming in and out of the restaurant. One of the young waitresses came out and asked the crowd gathered "Is that a Mustang?" We had quite a laugh and embarassed the poor girl. I don't think she had ever heard of a galaxie.

What is it with people and Mustangs? I had someone ask me if my boat was a Mustang also. No but maybe I could fit one in the trunk.

I'm surprised how manyy people remember Galaxies around here. You know they are sincere when they ask if the 64 was the last year they had round taillights etc. Everyone I've talked to has owned or parents had one. Alot of young kids know too, enough to call them boats.

The young kids around here think my friends '68 Cougar is some exotic car. I guess it is to them! We're just a bit jaded maybe because we grew up with these cars I guess. Stu

I give presentations to car clubs all the time. I first get to sit through their regular club agenda. They often discuss wether or not to allow the "green haired guys" into their annual car show.

It is not my place to speak during the meeting, but I always talk to the club president afterward. If the hot rodders want to complain about the lack of respect from the younger green hairs, yet refuse to let them into their shows, they themselves are to blame.

The tuner dudes of today are the flathead guys of yesteryear. You want them to appreciate what you've done, where you've come from, YOU have to explain it. What you'll learn (if I may be so bold) is that the green hairs are every bit as serious as any flatheader was. They are simply ignorant. As are the old guys who refuse to acknowledge that there is never a shortage a next generations.

Old Chinese proverb says: Look beyond your nose.

I love teaching the young guys and gals. They don't have alot of money and want to go fast. This has been the hot rod formula since the beginning. The basics of wrenching for getting all you can out of what you have, and learning to put your money where it does the most good.

And most of all, if you keep your mind open, you learn as much from them as they will from you.

As long as they don't park their butt on the fenders...we can talk. The problem with S8ter-types is lack of respect for property. I'll meet'em half way.
