Hello to everyone on the forum. I am about to purchase a 65 Galaxie 500 and thought I would introduce myself b/c I'm sure youwill be reading a lot of questions from me in the future.

My plans for this car are very preliminary at this point. First, I need to do more research on the car. I am very familiar with Mustangs. I have rebuilt a 65 Mustang Fastback and currently own a 68 Mustang Coupe but will probably sell it. I'm getting burnt on the mustangs right now but man did this Galaxie catch my eye. I love these cars. I also am sitting on a 460 motor with C-6 transmission. I'm not sure yet without doing research, how easy this will be to incorporate into the Galaxie but I'm crossing my fingers for a simple install. I have also been looking for sheet metal and have not had any luck in finding parts. Specifically, quarters, and doors.

I just wanted to introduce my self and let you know that I will be bugging everyone this winter.

Thanks!!

Sounds like a great project. I have a 460 in my '64 and I love it. I've got a C-4 tranny in mine though. Look at Melvin's Classic Ford Parts. I've ordered a couple things from them... they have good prices, and one of the largest selection of Galaxie parts I've seen.

Thanks a lot for the reply. So how do you like the 460 motor. I am still debating on it but thought this would be the perfect car for a 460.

You are exactly right... this is a perfect car for a 460. That's all I have to say about that. The guy who I bought the car from had the engine built a little on the softer side, as far as cams and the crank. In the future I may do something about that to get more power. My last car was a supercharged '05 Mustang GT... the Galaxie doesn't have that kinda pull, but she's pretty close. She'll burn the tires extremely easy from a stop... and in third gear cruising at around 35-40, when you step on it, you're gonna get pushed back in the seat for sure. I say put the 460 in it.
