Newspaper under the carpet???

I got up to work on my 64 untill it started to snow...I pulled the carpet up and under the tar sound mat there was a layer of newspaper. Could this be a factory thing, has anyone seen this before? When I get a chance I will see if I can find a date on it.

I dunno joe, for kicks, what's the dates and location on the paper? Match with the build date and location on the data plate. I doubt they ever laid paper down, but when I told people I had carpet screws, they though I was screwy. Funny thing what previous owners do.

Yeah, try to post the dates, or the title of the articles... any clues we can google for a place or time...

You're liable to find anything under the carpets or anywhere else on the car. I found a rubber centipede between the carpet and padding laying perfectly flat. I poked it with a screwdriver to see if it was alive or something as it was laying there so perfect.
On my drivers side seat hinge (outside) I found a man' s name and Long Beach written in pencil. So when I repainted I painted over it in clear. My car was built in LA. Just never know what you will find hidden in these cars.
Be interesting to see the dates and what was going on that day in the paper.

I found an empty pack of cigarettes behind a door panel in a untouched '68 Mustang I had. Like Deb said, you might find anything the factory workers left behind.

That's because someone realised that after the sucker bought the new Lumina he'd need some money for a down payment on a real car and wanted to help him out.... I found a dead body in my 68 Cougar! I pulled down the hood insulation to replace it and there was a dead mouse resting between it and the hood.

I took up the carpet out of a '66 Galaxie and found a brochure from the Grand Canyon. It's kinda neat to think somebody took their vacation in the Gal.

I found half of a california drivers license laying around in the drivers door behind the panel of my 65.
