rack and pinion comparison.

Anyone have info on the wurth-it rack and pinion vs the dearborn classics version. i read somewhere that the DC version was copied from wurth. the price of the DC is only 950$, so i assume this is no p/s? Also i plan on running air rides and wurthit recommends not using air ride suspension with their set up. Anyone know the differences / any info. thanks for the help.

Wurthit has been installed on airbagged cars, matter of fact there is frequent contributor who has a show quaility '60 Starliner (Red over Silver) that was one of the first to undergo the conversion. If Wurthit has changed their recommendation, then its the first I have heard of it.

Yes there is another that got into producing the kit, not sure if it uses the same or similar sources as the Wurthit kits. So , sure, you can save some money going that way. As far as comparing one to the other...I'm pretty sure it'll come down to which one the responder installed on his vehicle. A kit would have to be awful before someone would remove one to install the other - which seems like the only 'true' way to do a valid comparison.

Good to hear will be seeing some wagon pics soon on a different thread. I have decided not to go with a rack and pinion at this point. The FPA headers I am running will not allow for the racks use. FPA does now make a set that will work with the rack but at around $500.00 I don't really want to throw out the pair I currently have. In the future maybe...just not right now. It would be a nice modification for handling though.

sorry been on a vacation. i know fakesnake has the wurthit system with air rides..... i have a 64.

and heres the first you can hear... quoted from the site "We do not recommend installing our
conversion on air ride equipped cars
Do not remove the bump stops.
Severe damage to the rack and
pinion can occur doing these modifications.
If you decide to install our rack and pinion
with these modifications on
your vehicle, you do it at your own risk
as we at WURTH-IT DESIGNS
will not be held responsible or liable!

NOTICE!
A new rack & pinion mounting bracket design
for air ride suspensions is in the works and if
things go as planned will be available early 2007 "

ive yet to hear any new info on the on the special air ride setups.
