Vacumn canister for a 65 with factory a/c

The vacumn motors in my 65 never really worked like they should since I bought it and the one on the firewall went out again so I wired it to heat,I got some vacumn motors from a car being parted but before I replaced the ones on my car I checked them out. When hooked up to a vacumn pump they worked like they should and with the car running they would only work half way at the most so it was a vacumn source problem, bypassed the vacumn canister near the battery and it works fine except for the one on the firewall which is bad. I never heard any vacumn leaks near the canister and what could posibly go wrong with it if it does not have a hole in it,is the part where the vacumn lines attach act like a check valve. I doubt the canister is serviceable and do any of the newer vehicles use a vacumn canister so I can find one easily. Jeff

There is a check valve type thing on those somewhere so that they hold the pressure. I'm no help on where it is located though. I only found this out when talking to a man that had a '68 convertible and he was telling me about the part. Sorry I couldn't be of more help other than to say there is one.

I have a 67 shop manual that has the vacumn line diagram that shows a check valve near the motor but my 65 and the 67 parts car did not have one at the motor so I an guessing its built in the canister. Jeff

I thought of that but its strange the system works better without the canister then with it,I am going to take out the canister and check for leaks. Jeff
