Hillsboro show (oregon)

jrdufresne,
Are you going to the NW Galaxies show in Hillsboro June 2nd? I haven't made up my mind yet and if I did I would be spectating. Someone from Tumwater is going that I could cruise along with.
Just seems so far with gas so high, not to mention new stickers/tags due also this month. Did my drivers license about 2 weeks ago now it's the car's turn.
Hey but gas went down 2 cents. Wooohooo!!!

Deb,

I was not planning on going down. I am in the middle of remodeling a house right now, so that takes precedence. I saw it on the calendar. Unfortunately, I also have the rear differential out of the car right now. I have to replace all of the berrings. It would of been a good thing for me to go down because I have to put 500 miles on the differential before I do any towing. There are a few nice runs /cruises around here. Every Friday there is a cruise-in, in Coveington. I haven't been to that one yet, but, I hear it is pretty good.

I don't know if I want to drive 150 miles to get there or not. I do know I need to find something somewhere though. Has to be something here in tacoma with cars and good people. Going stir crazy and missing the desert since the suns been out a few days. I saw where Spanaway is having something in July.
Has to be others at some local joint around here though. Just need to find where and hope they aren't too into perfection when it comes to the cars. Mine certainly wouldn't fit that criteria!! Sure don't want to hear "you need to get that fixed", "how can you drive it like that?!" etc. I'm sure you know the type.

I miss my So-cal peoples and desert dwellers these last couple of sunny hot days.

I tell ya the car nuts in the Tacoma area don't care what your car looks like. I tend to think they believe if it roles drive it. And if they do anyway who cares what they think. The cruise-in in Coveington is not 150 miles away. It is on highway 18 just past Pacific International Raceway Just out of Auburn. It is on Fridays; I have heard good things about it. There is another cruise-in that happens on South Tacoma Way. They shut the street down. This cruise is one time a year. That is a big Cruise. There is also Good Guys in Puyallup in July. There is also a great rod run the first weekend of August in Yakima. This is my favorite rod run. Good times with good friends. It is a family friendly rod run. This run is in the desert and it is usually hot. If you do not want to go to the Yakima show there is Hotrodarama at the Swiss the first weekend of August. This show is a rock-a-billy if it has wheels roll it in there. They don't want to see trailer queens and any billit aluminum. I have personally seen them send away guys because they did not meet these specifications. If you get there early. It fills up fast.

I will see if I can locate a Cruise calendar for you.

Larry,
I did end up going to the Hillsboro show. I now know where all the '64 Gals are...the NW! Out of 30-35 (can't remember what they said now) there were 6 of them there counting mine. 3 convertibles and 3 HTs. Bunch of nice people. I even had a guy come up to me and ask if I was from Monroe, OR cause he thought he saw my car there about 6 months ago. Couldn't remember why he was down there he said but it had to be my car. Yep it was me, thats where the family lives and we had stopped there a few days to visit on our move up here. That was pretty odd. There's people down there that live 20 miles from that town and don't know where it is. Had fun but sure was toasty. Beats the rain though! One of the better parts was reading the "sign language" as they studied the Shotrod "fixing" it and wondering what happened to it.

I picked up a show calendar down there but haven't had a chance to look at it. There was a show in Belview(SP) yesterday also. One of the '64 owners from Tumwater was going to it.

A surprise there was I saw one of each year of the Retractables. Usually only see one or two and never one of each. That was cool. Then to have people from the show waving as they passed me on the freeway was sure different also! It was a great day!
I'll post some pics when I get to them. Working on the printer now for my son's science project due tomorrow. Durn thing wants to print everything reddish.

Everybody waves up here. It is kind of like being in a club up here. Kind of like the harley guys. Or the rice rocket guys. You always see them waving at each other.

The strangest place I was for waving, or maybe it was the most humorous in my little brain was in TN. Driving out trying to find the ****el distillery and JD too of course. ****el was more in the sticks though and everyone was waving. I thought wow, we just went back 50 yrs when horse and buggy was still prevalent and everyone is happy to see anyone on the road. Sure different from CA big time.
