64 fastback decklid weatherstrip

I want to install the trunk weatherstrip, but looking for some tips on the process. I tried searching the archives - thanks all -

P.S. while I'm at it, I have the butyl gasket type rear window. Can the new urethane seam sealers be used instead?

Hey Deb, how ya doing?

Re: 64 fastback decklid weatherstrip

Doing good here, the sun is out! LOL Your car is lookin good btw.

As for tips, somewhere here it's been discussed if it could be found. Here's one I found-- http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/gal...runk-seal.html

Main thing, clean it well first, and think most recommend 3M weather stripping glue. I bought the glue everyone calls Gorilla Snot but it was so long ago I can't remember the real name. Not surprising huh? But it is a weather stripping glue just can't remember if it is the 3M stuff.

..as Shotrod stated. Just make sure you put the seam near the gas cap. Most leakage comes from the rear glass side of the trunk. I tried "Not" using glue the first time and it leaked like crazy.

Re: 64 fastback decklid weatherstrip

Thanks all. I put the weatherstrip in this afternoon. I don't think I will use the 3M stuff on the doors, but I may change my mind. It worked ok on the deck lid, but it sets up a bit too fast to get the gasket just how I wanted it. I'm going to test it out tomorrow for leaks.
