NO Dash lights

I have no lights working on my dash gauge panel with exception to the GEN light. The rest of the lights, turn signals, headlights and brake lights are working. I have considered that it might be associated to the headlight switch, but I would like to eliminate all other possible sources before I invest in a new switch. Yes, I have twisted the headlight knob, no change. Dash wiring is currently grounded to the lower left edge/lip of the dash. It's making me mental!

Re: NO Dash lights

Put in good bulbs... THEn go back with a multi meter and check for power being delivered to the cluster lights when you pull on the switch...

There are so few wires back there that it should take a novice about 10 minutes to figure it out...

Good Luck!

Re: NO Dash lights

The power is fed from the fuse panel to the headlight switch via blue with red striped wire and them to each bulb. Check for power coming out the fuse to the switch then see if the power comes out the switch to the dash bulbs. If it doesn't come out the switch with the lights on then = bad switch. My bet is the rheostat in the switch has a bad contact or the resistor coil is bad in the switch for the dimmer.

Re: NO Dash lights

I have the same problem with no dash lights on my 62 Gal. All the other lights work fine and the bulbs and grounds are good. Doesn't it make sense to just repace the headlight switch? It seems that all of the possible problems begin and end at the switch?

Re: NO Dash lights

I had this problem in my Falcon, turns out it was a combination of things. The fuse was bad, which was the first and biggest issue, then as me and my friend found by taking the dash out and testing all the light bulbs with a volt meter for continuity, there is a large dead spot in the switch. If i turn it at all off the mark then the lights don't show at all, but if i keep it right on they work great .
