Looks like the big pig is mine - '64 Gal 500

Got CFO approval over the weekend to buy my first 4 wheeled project, a 1964 Galaxie (edit for fat fingers - thx danv!) 500. The car is semi-rough, down to bare metal with a coat of primer. Interior needs to be gutted, the sheet metal is all metal with no bondo, just a bit of rust below the rear window and in the passenger footwell. Supposed to have a new front suspension (not sure of the details on that yet). Power is a currently a 289 with 302 heads, unknown tranny (I'm sure it's a Cruise-o-Matic), and a 9 inch rear (open diff). She ain't exactly pretty, but she'll get there.

Looks like the bumper mount might need some attention - nothing a 'glass bumper won't fix!

Lots of room under here - nothing a stroked 460 won't fix!

Break out the shovel - lots of work to do inside!

Re: Looks like the big pig is mine - '64 Gal 500

Pretty much all of the outside trim is gone, so I'm planning to fill all the holes, shave the door handles, etc, and paint it like that. Interior will probably be all stock (recovered), not sure on color (I currently have blue front buckets and a black rear bench). Power is planned to be a mild 460, possibly stroked, backed by a C6 and 9 inch rear with a Detroit Locker. I'm strongly considering a 'glass hood, both bumpers - the bumpers will be painted. gbeeler's car is my "stance and attitude" inspiration.

More to follow as the project moves forward....

When it's finished, when ever anyone says to squeal like a pig, you know you gotta lay rubber!

dockrocker, now that you own a Galaxie, please don't spell it with a "y" at the end. Us Galaxie owners get upset about it LOL!

Doh! I didn't even realize I did that (and I'm normally a stickler for spelling and punctuation!)

How about those hood vents - hard to see in the pic, but a previous owner took Mustang GT350 quarter window vents, cut holes in the Gal hood, and 'glassed them in! I think Crites might be able to help me out with that...
